Biography

For more than four decades, Jeff Jenkins has built a career around one simple idea: every great story deserves to be told well.

His creative life has taken many forms. As a performer, he appeared in the original Australian production of Cats after beginning dance training later than most professional dancers. He has worked as an actor, singer, dancer and choreographer, contributing to productions including West Side Story, Grease, The Buddy Holly Story, Ginger Meggs and even 4 episodes of Playschool (buy me a drink one day for the full story!)

Alongside performing, Jeff has always been a writer.

He has created original musicals, written songs, developed theatre productions and, more recently, completed a feature screenplay. Whether working in musical theatre, live performance or film, his passion has remained the same: finding stories that connect emotionally with audiences.

Away from the stage, Jeff's career has taken some unexpected turns. He spent fifteen years as a chef, raised a family, toured nationally with his acclaimed theatre production The Bob Dylan Story, and continues to perform original music as a solo artist and with a band. Each chapter has added another layer to the stories he tells today.

Jeff believes that theatre is at its most powerful when music, movement and storytelling become inseparable. He is particularly passionate about developing original Australian works that celebrate our history, our characters and our unique voice while speaking to audiences everywhere.

Today, his focus is on creating new musicals, writing original work and sharing the creative journey through The Creative Journal, where he reflects on songwriting, theatre, storytelling and the art of making something from nothing.
